About this book
Time is running out. If you haven2t begun to fix your Year 2000 problem yet, you are playing catch-up. Thousands of companies have already awakened from denial and started on the path to a solution. The bad news is, we have a universal computing emergency that needs to be addressed now. January 1, 2000 is an utterly unforgiving deadline that cannot be extended. The good news is that there is something you can do about it. The technical know-how exists and all of the tools are available to you today. In fact, you2re holding one of the most important tools in your hands right now. Written by the original prophet of the Year 2000 crisis and the editor of the premier Year 2000 bulletin, the Millennium Journal, this book explains exactly what the problem is, why it2s so complex, and what the implications are to the organization. Peter de Jager and Richard Bergeon help you develop a strategy to prepare for and protect yourself from the far-reaching ramifications of 00. Espousing the view that the situation is much more of a management challenge than a technical one, this valuable guide thoroughly covers important cost-control issues and gives you practical ways to set up efficient solutions.

Countdown Y2K, business survival planning for the year 2000

Creator: Peter De Jager, Richard Bergeon | Computers - 1999

Explains the scope of the Y2K problem and provides advice to formulate a survival plan

Publisher: John Wiley & Sons Inc

About this book
The anxious buzz over history's most monumental technical glitch is fast approaching fever pitch. The mammoth problem extends beyond just the mainframe: effective solutions must accommodate not only the corporate back office, but also the desktop, and embedded systems, as well as issues of corporate liability, revenue loss, and infrastructure failure. The comprehensive, end-to-end corporate remedy outlined in Countdown Y2K is the first to truly cover all of these bases. In short, it is IT's final remaining hope for effectively handling the millennium bug. As it stands, business organizations are beginning to realize that it is already too late to expect all of their mission-critical systems to be 'Year 2000 viable' by January 1, 2000. Authors Peter de Jager and Richard Bergeon inject a refreshing dose of sanity into the Y2K proceedings, offering a straightforward, easy-to-follow plan for minimizing damage, educating personnel, and moving toward an effective and lasting recovery.

Buy Bergoen, don't risk your watch with anything less

If you've spent a few dollars on a watch (or 10, it can be an addiction), then buy Bergeon tools. The Chinese fake everything, Bergeon tools included and they're not even close. I prefer the 6767 tools to the 6111 (the most commonly faked Bergeon tool) but you'll either need to buy both the F and S versions, or just buy one and purchase the other tip if you want to save money. Tips can be purchased for $8-15You'll need the S for leather and rubber bands, and the F for metal bracelets. I own both as I can't be bothered changing tips, and you can get the 6767-F and 6767-S for the same price as just one 6111 (which in my opinion isn't as good). This one, the F is too easy to accidentally damage a leather strap with. It is very fine and designed to get metal bracelets off. It's too easy to gouge a leather strap with, and if you've sprung $100+ for a crocodile Hornback strap you'll cry.For the price of these tools, I'm amazed people still buy the Chinese ones. $25... 5/5 Wile E Coyote - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) WHAT A PAIN!... I NEEDED a SOLUTION,...so I TOOLED-UP & Gave it a Whirl.......

Guess I'm slow on the uptake. Took me YEARS to find the right tool for the right job. This tough tool took me out of the Dark Ages changing watch spring bars. I was trying to use jewelers screwdrivers which usually bent, broke scratched the case & band. My thumb nails (which also bent & broke!) didn't work any better,...either did, luck or ignorance. Finally got to the point it wasn't worth the chance of scratching my more expensive watches. Luckily, ran across this Bergeon tool. Looks like a well made dental tool so I decided to give it a whirl.MY LIFE CHANGED!!! This is one tough tool that works every time & does NOT bend or break. Looks like its built to last for years,..and new tips are available. Sweet. The 'V' design tip grabs the bar just right & gives great control when maneuvering the pin & searching for the hole. It takes me much less time to find the blind hole than any other tool I used previously. What used to be a frustrating chore became a quick easy... 5/5 carefulShopper - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) The Right Tool for the Job

I had put off buying a proper springbar tool for a long time, trying to make due with the cheap/free springbar tools such as the one I had from one of those 18 piece watch repair kits that you can buy for $6. Those were rather frustrating times, especially because those tools often couldn't fit into solid endlinks to change bracelets. After trying the 6767, I immediately noticed the difference. The tool feels very solid in hand as it should for a tool that costs about $25. It is substantial in hand and feels like a real quality piece. Then I tested the function. The FINE fork fit into the gap in the end links of my Omega Speedmaster Pro bracelet and worked perfectly. There was no hesitation, no squirming around to try to fit in forks that were too big, and I had the bracelet off in seconds. The pusher on the other end also worked perfectly to adjust micro-adjust in the clasp. I will never go back to a lesser tool and expect the Bergeon to last a lifetime based on... 5/5 Jake Flash (Honolulu, HI USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Bergeon 6767-F Watch Spring Bar Tool - Long Stainless Steel Handle with Replaceable Screw In Fine Tool End (Watch) I had put off buying a proper springbar tool for a long time, trying to make due with the cheap/free springbar tools such as the one I had from one of those 18 piece watch repair kits that you can buy for $6. Perfect tool

0 5/5 rsk22 - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Bergeon Watch Spring Bar Tool (Watch) This springbar tool works perfectly for the amateur watch afficionado who wants to change leather and metal watch straps on his or her own watches from time to time. The tool is easy to use and of very high quality, the perfect size for most watches, old and new, even though with certain watch brands it may take some practice to get it right (and do it scratch free). Overall highly recommend this for anyone who occasionally wants to switch straps (whether leather, NATO-type straps, or metal straps). 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , December 16, 2011

Good tool; notched tip too wide for some uses; a bit pricey

0 3/5 Steve S. - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Bergeon Watch Spring Bar Tool (Watch) I have several watches and have replaced several bands over the years and have helped out family members with similar needs. I also have a high end watch which I plan to occasionally switch between an alligator leather strap and metal bracelet. A tool like this one is essential for easy switches, but the notched tip for maneuvering spring bars is too wide to access the available slots in some metal band designs. It is well (Swiss) made. I paid about $25 for it and that's a bit much for a simple tool with a plastic body and two metal ends (one "pin" tip and one flat with a notch in it to work with spring bars). You can find a different, all metal model of the Bergeon tool which can be ordered with "fine" tips that will be more versatile. Since the tips simply screw into the body, you could probably buy the finer notched tip separately and replace the wide one that was originally supplied with this model. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , May 15, 2013

A Precision Watch Tool is worth it....

0 5/5 Charles - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Bergeon 6767-S Watch Spring Bar Tool - Long Stainless Steel Handle with Replaceable Screw In Standard Tool End (Watch) Very nice watch tool. Robust enough to help insert even the most difficult spring bars. Don't have to use so much muscle as with other cheapo, usually Chinese tools. What happens is with the lesser type tools is the tool tip will bend or chip since it is not hardened stainless steel. I went though one or two of these before I caught on. This specific tool 6767-S (as compared to the F model), is for using on pliable watchbands such as leather. Its broader (forked) tip surface is less likely to pinch and damage the strap or scratch your lug. Always work on your watch from the back side (face down) not the front. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , November 14, 2015
